Broc Parkes 2009
This weekend will see the fourth round of the World Superbike Championship take place at Assen but the Kawasaki Superbike Racing Team rider Broc Parkes will not be on the grid, after suffering an horrendous crash on Monday while testing at the Snetterton circuit in the UK.
The Australian crashed his Kawasaki ZX 10R, at 120mph and suffered minor injuries to his face, arm, wrist and knee. He also received a shoulder injury for which he was receiving surgery today to insert a screw which will holder his shoulder in place.
As the injury takes six weeks to heal, the British Superbike rider Stuart Easton, will be his replacement rider for the round and as he is already the teams development and test rider, he has experience of the machine and mileage under his belt.
Easton, who rides for the Hydrex Honda BSB Team said,
“I couldn’t believe it when the call come in from Paul, I didn’t need to be asked twice, that’s for sure! It’s a brilliant opportunity for me and I’m really looking forward to working with the team in a race environment rather than just testing.”
