I previously reported on 3rd February, that John Hopkins would be racing for the Stiggy Honda team alongside Leon Haslam in the 2009 World Superbike Championship, this has now been confirmed.

The new team-mates are now set to test together at Almeria on 29th March, although where exactly this leaves Roberto Rolfo is unclear, will he take a step-back or will it be run as a three man team?

After the Kawasaki MotoGP team shocked the motorcycle series with its withdrawal from the series in January, Hopkins was left high-and-dry, but now the 25-year-old has signed a deal with the Stiggy Honda team for the remainder of the 2009 season.

After reaching an amicable settlement with the Kawasaki team who he was under contract with for the year, Hopkins said,

“Kawasaki and I worked it out where both parties left the relationship happy, and I am thankful to Kawasaki for letting me ride their bikes and race in their program.  I’m excited about racing in the 2009 season and solely putting my focus on moving forward.”

Meanwhile, for the people who have asked about the ticket prices for the 2009 South African round, I have posted the link below;
