KTM, who are originally famous for it’s off-road machines are now recognised for their road racing grand prix programme with the 125cc and 250cc classes.
The team expects to spend only two seasons in the Superstock series before joining the World Superbike Championship.
Philip Habsburg said “We want to be here for sure in 2008 and 2009 with the Superstock. We will see how competitive our bike is in the future and after that it’s probably the better moment to do such a big decision and go Superbike racing. Until now from our management there is no decision yet but we are thinking for sure for 2010, that’s what we say and no more.”
The KTM’s RC8 Superbike, made it’s debut at the Valencia track. The new 1190cc V-twin powered machine ridden by 21-year-old Rene Mahr, qualified in tenth place on the grid but he unfortunately, the Australian crashed out on lap three.
