Max Neukirchner was the fastest man on the track today with a time of 1:33.805, which was also a new circuit record on his maiden Superpole. He said “This is my first Superpole win and I’m really happy about that. Unfortunately I had some small problems in the free practice, but now the temperature goes a little bit down, my lap was very good. A big thanks to my team. I think we had a good set-up on the bike for race tyres and tomorrow I have big hopes of doing a couple of good races.”
Yukio Kagayama the teammate of Neukirchner was in second place on the second Suzuki, only 0.123 seconds behind. The Japanese rider has only recently recovered from his collarbone injury and said “I watched Troy’s Superpole and he made a great lap time. It was good motivation for me then I went out and made a great lap. It wasn’t a clean lap but I am very happy to be second. Now that my collarbone trouble is over, it’s not perfect, but for me it’s a better situation because it if was 100% I would probably push to hard.”
Troy Bayliss took the third position just behind Kagayama and said “Today has been one of the toughest days, as far as things go, with the top 18 covered by one second in qualifying and it’s very competitive out there. we’re pretty happy with the Superpole lap but honestly for the race tomorrow, we still have a few little problems to sort out. We’ve been trying a few things today and hopefully we can still be a bit more consistent tomorrow.”
The Spanish rider, Ruben Xaus squeezed-out Lorenzo Lanzi to be on the final front row place on the grid for tomorrows race.
