Régis Laconi has signed a deal with the DFX Corse team for the 2009 season with an offer of an extension for 2010.
The DFX team have also changed manufacturers to Ducati after running with Honda for the past three years.
Laconi rode for the Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse team for 2008 where he finished the year in sixteenth place overall, with an eighth place being his best finish.
The French rider, began his career in World Superbikes in 2001, and has remained in the series after only taking a year out to ride in the MotoGP class.
In 2004, while riding for the Caracchi Ducati team alongside James Toseland, the two were favourites for the title, which Toseland finally achieved at the final round of the season, despite Laconi winning seven races and taking five pole positions.
In 2005, Laconi was plagued with injuries and moved on to the Kawasaki team for 2006, where he finished behind his team-mates, Chris Walker and Fonsi Nieto in fifteenth place but continued with the team for the next two seasons.
