For the 2009 World Superbike Championship, there is to be a shoot-out qualifying session rather than the one-lap sprint currently in place.

The new Superpole will be for the top twenty riders following the two qualifying sessions instead of the current sixteen.

There is to be three elimination sessions consisting of twelve minutes each with two seven minute breaks in between making up the fifty minute session.  The session will now also take place an hour earlier from 2009.
