The MotoGP rider Sylvain Guintoli, who is currently riding the Alice Ducati, has been in talks with the Factory Yamaha Italia team and has been put forward as a possible rider for the 2009 season.
He has had no firm offers from the MotoGP teams for next year and after the announcement that Noriyuki Haga could be leaving the team to go to Ducati team, Guintoli is now a contender.
Guintoli finished as the top privateer in the 250GP in 2006 before signing for the Yamaha Tech 3 team in the MotoGP in 2007.
With the rumoured departure of Troy Corser also from the team, there could be two possible seats available for the 2009 season.
