It has been announced that two-time World Superbike Champion, Troy Bayliss, will retire at the end of the 2008 season.
After a decade of racing in Superbike and Moto GP, the 38 year old Australian said he wants to quit whilst he’s still on top. He told a reporter at the MCN “Win, lose or draw, the plan is to finish at the end of the year. You never know what could happen, but that’s pretty much the decision”. He went onto say “Honestly, I’ll be finishing racing at the end of the year – well, with motorbikes anyway!”.
Bayliss is one of the favourites for the 2008 Championship after the retirement of James Toseland who is now with Moto GP and after only a month of suffering a broken collarbone, Bayliss was the fastest man of the track at Qatar last week.
