Troy Bayliss riding the Xerox Ducati, has won the World Superbike Championship for the third time despite only coming third in race one at Magny Cours yesterday. He went on to take the victory in race two to prove to the thousands of spectators what a worthy champion he is.
Race One
Noriyuki Haga won the first race on the Yamaha Motor Italia WSB after dominating the race once he passed Bayliss.
Fonsi Nieto on the Suzuki Alstare finished in second place followed by Bayliss and Max Biaggi on the Sterilgarda Go Eleven Ducati.
In fifth place was Max Neukirchner on the second Alstare Suzuki ahead of Troy Corser riding the second Yamaha Motor Italia WSB and Carlos Checa on the Hanspree Ten Kate Honda.
Checa looked likely to take a podium place but as the raced progress his tyres started to go along with his pace.
Michel Fabrizio on the third Xerox Ducati, crashed out with only three laps remaining while fighting for a place on the podium with Nieto and Bayliss.

Race Two
The second race saw an ongoing battle between Bayliss and Haga until with only two laps remaining Bayliss took the lead to win the race.
Haga took second followed by Corser and Checa in fourth. Ruben Xaus on the Sterilgarda Ducati finished in fifth place ahead of Biaggi and Yukio Kagayama in seventh on the Suzuki.
Nieto finished in eighth place followed by Neukirchner in ninth and Roberto Rolfo on the Honda Althea rounding up the top ten riders.
