This weekend the Hannspree World Superbike Championship is at Brands Hatch in Kent for round ten with Troy Bayliss, the Xerox Ducati rider, leading second place man Max Neukirchner on the Alstare Suzuki by 79 points in the Championship, after his double victory at the last round at Brno.
Bayliss has just signed-up to take part in the Race Of Champions, where he will go head to head with Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button etc. He will be partnering Mark Webber, the Formula One driver, for the Australian team.
Tom Sykes, the Rizla Suzuki rider in the British Superbikes, will be entering the race as a Wildcard rider this weekend and is certainly in with a chance of a top five finish. Sykes was voted ‘rookie of the year’ in 2007, after finishing sixth in the Championship.
Chris Walker, is racing for the Paul Bird Motorsport Honda at Brands Hatch after recent testing on the CBR1000RR Fireblade at Oulton Park. Walker said,
“It’s certainly a lot more physical and I’m still trying to get my head around how much kick it’s got as I exit the corners. Riding five laps around here on a Superbike feels like doing a whole race on a Supersport bike.”
