The mid-season, two day test for the World Superbikes has taken place at Vallelunga in Italy, and Ruben Xaus finished the session with the fastest lap.
There were four Ducati’s at the front of the time-sheets as Xaus set a lap time of 1.36.032, although he chose to sit out the afternoon session.
All three of the Ducati’s to follow were Xerox Ducati’s with the rider set for his debut at the Brno race, Niccolò Canepa, in second place.
Italian, Canepa is the Superstock 1000 Champion for 2007, and still only 20-years-old. He will be lining up as a wild card at the next race, definitely worth keeping an eye on. Right on his tail were Troy Bayliss and Michel Fabrizio in third and fourth place respectively.
Troy Corser on the Yamaha Motor Italia, followed by Ryuichi Kiyonari and Carlos Checa on the Hanspree Ten Kate Honda’s.
Jakub Smrz on the Ducati was in eighth place ahead of Kenan Sofuoglu on yet another Ten Kate Honda. Max Biaggi for the Sterilgarda Ducati team completed the top ten fastest riders.
